New Delhi. The film ‘Parinda’ was inspired by the Hollywood movie On the Waterfront. This film was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. This was a superhit film of the year 1989. The songs, dialogues and scenes of the film are still liked by the audience.
Madhuri Dixit gave a death scene for the first time in this film. Nana Patekar received the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for his excellent performance in the film. Jackie Shroff received tremendous praise and awards for his role. Everyone was impressed by Anil Kapoor’s acting. Many scenes in the film were shot at very real and original places.
Let us tell you that regarding the budget of the film, the film’s director Vidhu Vinod Chopra had once revealed in an old interview that the budget of his film Parinda, released in 1989, was only Rs 12 lakh. But the film created a stir as soon as it was released and did a worldwide business of Rs 9 crore. The interesting thing about this film was that Vidhu Vinod Chopra was not only the director of the film, but also the producer, writer and actor.
In an interview, the film’s director Vidhu Vinod Chopra had revealed that he had a very low budget to make the film. This amount was very less in terms of the budget of the film, but it had the advantage that the film got a more authentic feel. The location, the screaming crowd, everything was real and our weakness became our strength. It is said that earlier this film was named Kabootarkhana. But later it was released by Parinda.
According to the IMBD report, Anil Kapoor had talked a lot about the fees of his close friend and co-star Jackie Shroff. He made one thing clear to Vinod that he will pay the same fees to Jackie as he is paying to him (Anil Kapoor). This is because Anil knew that Jackie was going through these bad times, his consecutive films had proved to be flops at the box office. Therefore, he did not want anyone to take advantage of this.
The report further states that somewhere during the making of Parinda, Vinod had convinced Jackie to work at a lower fee. Whereas Anil Kapoor did not know about this at all. When Anil Kapoor came to know about this, Vinod told Anil that Jackie himself had taken the initiative to work at lower fees and now he had started pressurizing Anil Kapoor to take lower fees. However, Anil remained adamant on his point. Because his film Tezaab was a superhit and Anil knew that Vinod was getting a good price for Parinda. Therefore he refused to make any compromise.
