When Arvind Swamy made his debut with Thalapathy, in which he was seen in the role of Arjun. This movie received many awards and then Arvind Swami debuted on screen in the lead role.

Arvind Swamy has acted in Mani Ratnam’s two major national hits, Roja in 1992 and Bombay in 1995. The success of these films firmly established him as a star. He then starred opposite Kajol in the 1997 National Award-winning film Minsara Kanavu. The next year, he made his Bollywood debut with Juhi Chawla in Saat Rang Ka Sapne.

By the end of the 90s, Arvind Swamy’s films were not performing well at the box office.
